Cougars Open Season
With Victory Over Patoka
The Cougars got things started off on the right foot as they opened their 2005 fall campaign with a five-inning,
13-1 win over the host Patoka Warriors.
Nick Simmons pitched five solid innings, giving up only 2 hits on 4 strikeouts and no walks in a
complete game performance. The only run he allowed was of the unearned variety as the Cougar defense committed 4 errors.
The Cougars blew the game open early as they scored 5 runs in their first at-bat, then added 6 more the
second time around to race out to an 11-0 lead.
The big blows in the two-inning outburst were a two-run triple by Chad King and a pair of singles from Tommy
Daugherty that plated 3 runs.
The Cougars would go on to add single tallies in the fourth and fifth frames to account for thier final run
total and coasted from there to close things out.
The next game is scheduled for this Thursday when they host the Stew-Stras Comets in a 7:00 PM game at Lions
Field.
