Cougars Remain Perfect
With Two More Wins

The Cougars started week three of their fall season with an important conference victory over Dieterich and then derailed Altamont to keep their unbeaten streak intact.

On Tuesday, the Cougars to traveled Dieterich to battle the Maroons in an early-season match-up of unbeaten conference foes and the Cougars prevailed by a score of 9-2.

Starting pitcher Spencer Patton was up to his old tricks as he baffled the Maroon hitters to the tune of 1 hit and 16 strikeouts. The lone hit came in the first inning on a solo home run, but that's all they would get the rest of the way and Patton upped his record to 3-0 on the season.

The Cougar offense banged out 14 hits and scored in all but two innings as Wade Crain, James Gile, and Patton had three safties apiece to lead the way. Tyler Mulvany chipped in with two singles and two RBI's to aid in the cause.

On Wednesday, Nick Simmons pitched a complete-game, 1-hit shutout to also run his record to 3-0 as the Cougars manhandled the Altamont Indians 8-0.

Although the Cougars committed five errors and Simmons uncharacteristically walked six batters, the defense hung tough when they had to and managed to keep the Indians off the scoreboard.

Simmons also paced the offense with three hits, one an RBI double, and Blake Lane, Chad King, and James Gile all rapped two hits apiece to fuel the 12-hit attack.

The Cougars return to action again Friday night when the host the Noble Wildcats at 7:00 PM in another big conference match-up.
