Cougars Stay Hot,
Top Noble & Brownstown

The Cougars continued their winning ways this week with back-to-back wins over Noble on Wednesday and Brownstown on Thursday.

Against Noble, freshman Tanner Bushue upped his record to a perfect 4-0 with a complete-game performance by scattering 9 hits and striking out 7 to lead the Cougars to the 5-3 victory.

Four of the nine hits came in the first when the Wildcats scored all of their runs, but he settled down after that and was in command the rest of the way.

Wade Crain led the offense with a trio of singles and two RBI's and Robert Slater chipped in with a pair of doubles and two RBI's.

On Thursday, sophmore Marcus Hicks toed the rubber for his first varsity start and came through in flying colors. He allowed only 2 hits on 7 strikeouts and 1 walk in the 9-0 win.

James Gile led the hitting attack with a pair of singles and an RBI and Tyler Mulvany drove home 3 runs with a single and a sac fly.

The Cougars are back in action on Saturday when they tangle with Benton and Eldorado in the annual Benton Tournament. They square off with the host Rangers in the day's first game at 10:00 AM and face the Eagles immediately following that contest at approximatley 12:00 PM.
