Cougars Split Pair of
Games as Fall Season Begins
The Cougars kicked-off their fall season by splitting a pair of games as they topped Patoka 8-5 on Tuesday
and fell 10-0 to Neoga on Wednesday.
In the season opener at Patoka, the Cougars were not sharp, but still managed to put enough runs on the board
to to slide by the Warriors.
Lance Schneider, who relieved starting pitcher Marcus Hicks in the third, picked up his first win of the season
by allowing four runs (two earned) on four hits in 4 1/3 innings of work.
Offensively, the Cougars banged out twelve hits and leading the way were Shea Burton, Zack Cain, Justin Armstrong,
and Devin Hall with two safeties each.
On Wednesday, the Cougars left their bats at home as they managed only two hits in the five-inning loss to
the Indians.
Aaron Robb was saddled with the loss as he went the distance allowing all ten runs on nine hits, eight walks,
and seven strikeouts.
The Cougars are scheduled to play six games in five days this week and will take the field on Thursday for
the third straight day as they host the Stewardson-Strasburg Comets in their home opener at 7:00 PM.
