Cougars Rock Stew-Stras;
Lose to Mother Nature
The Cougars jumped all over Stewardson-Strasburg for a five-inning 10-0 win at Lions Field on Thursday
night, but severe weather stood in the way on Friday when they traveled to Beecher City to take-on the Eagles.
On Thursday against the visiting Comets, the Cougars exploded for nine first-inning runs and Tanner Bushue
and Marcus Hicks combined for a four-hit shutout in the lopsided victory.
After being two-hit the night before at Neoga, the Cougars did an about face in this one as they banged
out six hits and took advantage for four walks in their first at-bat. Highlighting the inning were two-run singles from Zac
Cain and Justin Armstrong.
Not only did Bushue drive in the game-winner with a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the fifth, he picked
up the win from the mound allowing no runs on two hits, no walks, and eight strikeouts in three innings of work.
Hicks relieved Bushue in the fourth surrendering the other two Comet hits on five strikeouts and no walks
to close the game out.
On Friday, Cougar leadoff hitter Will Crain drew a walk to start the contest then stole second on a Devin
Hall called third strike, but with third-place hitter Aaron Robb at the dish, the rains came and quickly put a halt to the
game.
The Cougars are back in action on Saturday when they participate in the Cardinal Wooden Bat Showcase
held at the Louisville City Park. They will face the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes at 11:30 AM, then square-off against the host
Cardinals at approximately 1:30 PM.
