Cougars Up Winning Streak
to Six With Pair of Wins
The Cougar pitching staff continued their their dominant ways and the bats were red-hot as they scored 23
runs in a pair of victories over Brownstown and North Clay to finish off the week.
On Thursday, starting pitcher Lance Schneider hurled six strong innings allowing one unearned run on two hits,
no walks, and nine strikeouts. Marcus Hicks followed up with one inning of scoreless relief as the Cougars blasted Brownstown
10-1.
Schneider also had a big day at the plate as he stroked a pair of RBI singles and teammate Justin Armstrong
chipped in with two safeties and an RBI to lead the offense.
On Friday, the Cougars opened their MTC conference schedule with a resounding 13-0, five-inning shellacking
of the visiting North Clay Cardinals.
Tanner Bushue picked-up the win as he pitched four innings of perfect baseball allowing no runs on no hits,
no walks, and six strikeouts. Hicks took over in the fifth allowing the only Cardinal hit, a one-out double, on a misplayed
ball in the outfield.
The offense cranked out 14 hits as five Cougar players recorded multiple hit games. Leading the way was Schneider
with a single and a grand slam home run in the 2nd to give the Cougars 5-0 lead.
Will Crain reached base four times on an error, two singles, and a double and Bushue laced two hits,
one a long two-run blast over the boards in left in the bottom of the fourth.
Also joining in the hit parade were Devin Hall with two singles and 3 RBI's and Luke Smith with two singles
and 2 RBI's.
The Cougars are back in action next Tuesday when they travel to Cisne to battle the Lions in another MTC date
at 7:00 PM.
