Cougars Stay Hot With
Back-to-Back Wins
The Cougars continued their winning ways as they started the week with consecutive victories over Cisne and
Altamont.
On Tuesday, they traveled to Cisne to battle the Lions in an MTC conference game and pushed their league
record to 2-0 with a 7-1 victory.
Starting pitcher Tanner Bushue pitched six strong innings allowing one unearned run on 4 hits, 13 strikeouts,
and 1 walk. Marcus Hicks came on in the seventh and closed the deal with a scoreless inning of relief.
Offensively, the Cougars banged out 12 hits and were led by Shea Burton with two singles, a double, and
four RBI's. Lance Schneider, Aaron Robb, and Tyler Gillett chipped in a pair of hits each to help the cause.
On Wednesday, the Cougars left their bats at home, but turned in another sterling effort from the mound
and on defense to slip past Altamont 1-0.
Senior pitcher Lance Schneider picked up his fourth victory of season as he went the distance allowing no
runs on 2 hits, 1 walk, and 3 strikeouts.
Offensively, the Cougars scored their only run in the 4th when Zac Cain reached base on a fielding error with
one out. Burton followed with a single to left center and when the throw to nail courtesy runner Kyle Monical at third was
too late, Burton advanced to 2nd to put both runners in scoring position.
With Aaron Robb at the dish, a pitch in the dirt got away from the Indian catcher and Monical scampered home
with the only run of the game.
The Cougars return to action on Friday when they host the Sandoval Blackhawks in another MTC contest at 7:00
PM.
