Cougars Open Season
With Loss to Nokomis
The Cougars opened their 2009 spring campaign on the wrong foot Thursday as they dropped a 3-1 decision to
the Nokomis Redskins.
Ryan Gesell was the tough-luck loser as he started and pitched the first three innings allowing all of the
Redskins' runs in the opening frame on four hits.
He then settled in and pitched two scoreless innings before giving way to Tanner Bushue who stuck out eight
and walked two in his three innings of work.
Offensively, the Cougars collected only five hits on the day and were led by Isaac Grapperhaus with a single,
a double, and one RBI.
The Cougars return to action on Saturday when they host Dieterich and DuQuoin. The day's schedule looks like
this:
SC vs Dieterich at 10:00 AM
Dieterich vs DuQuoin at 12:00 PM
