For Win at Patoka
The Cougars took advantage of some shoddy play by their opponent and got a couple of gutsy pitching performances
in their 8-6 win at Patoka on Tuesday afternoon.
The Warrior defense committed three costly errors and their pitchers issued nine free passes to help out the
Cougars offense.
Tyler Gillett helped out the offense as well when he blasted a big three-run homer in the 4th to put
the Cougars up 8-3.
He also shined defensively as he picked up a save with 3 1/3 innings of relief of starter and winning
pitcher Colby Bushue who made his first varsity start.
Gillett allowed 3 runs on 1 hit, 6 walks, and 5 strikeouts while Bushue's line read 3 runs on 4 hits,
3 walks, and 1 strikeout.
Justin Armstrong also contributed to the Cougar run total with a pair of singles and two runs scored while
Ian King and Kyle Monical both finished with a base hit each.
The Cougars return to action again on Wednesday when they host the Effingham St. Anthony Bulldogs at 4:30
PM.
