The Cougars fell behind early when Stew-Stras clean-up hitter Jaden Widdersheim blasted a grand slam in the first inning, but Shane Donoho's 3-run blast in the seventh gave the Cougars the lead and they held on from there to steal the 7-6 victory from the Comets.

 

Ryan Gesell picked up the win in relief of starter Ian King who pitched the first 4 2/3 innings allowing all six runs on six hits. Gesell walked five batters, but allowed no runs on one hit and two strikeouts.

 

Offensively, the Cougars were led by Justin Armstrong with two singles, a double, and 1 RBI while Tyler Gillett banged out a single, a double, and 2 RBI's. Donoho's only hit was the two-out 3-run homer, but it ended up being the game winner.

 

The Cougars are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Salem to take-on the Wildcats at 4:30 PM.
