The Cougars got another standout pitching performance from Tanner Bushue and the offense banged out 10 hits as they rolled the visiting Flora Wolves 9-1 at Lions Field on Tuesday afternoon.

 

Bushue picked up his fifth win of the season as he allowed just one unearned run on 6 hits, 2 walks, and 16 strikeouts. That makes the third start in a row that he has put up impressive strikeout totals as he set down 15 opponent hitters in his previous two starts against Effingham and Newton.

 

Also during that span he has allowed no earned runs, plummeting his ERA to a gaudy 0.29.

 

Offensively, the Cougars were led by Ryan Gesell as he cracked a bases-clearing 3-run double in the third inning and a two-run homer over the left-centerfield wall in the fifth.

 

Shane Donoho also had a big day at the plate as he rapped out 3 singles, good for 2 RBI's, and scored twice.

 

Ian King did his part as well as he also reached the hit column three times.

 

The Cougars are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Olney to battle the Tigers at 4:30 PM.
