The Cougars had a busy week as they played
on four consecutive days, but the cramped schedule didn't bother them a bit as they managed to take three of the four games.
On Friday, they completed their MTC schedule with a 14-5 victory over the Noble
Wildcats and finished at 5-1 in league play, just one game behind conference champ North Clay.
Colt Wilkins, making his first varsity start, picked up the win with four solid
innings from the mound.
Cole Armstrong, Reid Drewes, and Wilkins led the offense with three hits apiece.
On Thursday, the Cougars ran into a buzzsaw as the visiting Neoga Indians put
thirteen runs on the board in a 13-3 loss.
Derek Harmeier was the unfortunate loser in this one and Drewes was the only
Cougar with more than one hit.
On Wedensday, Effingham St. Anthony came calling and the 12-1 Bulldogs were
muzzled by the Cougars to the tune of 6-4.
Cole Armstrong, also making his first varsity start from the rubber, kept
the Cougars in it allowing 4 runs (1 earned) in four innings of work.
Luke Krajefska was called upon in the 5th and threw no-hit ball through the
final three innings to get the win.
Offensively, Wilkins had the big blow of the game with a 2-run homer in
the 5th to knott the score at four all, and Drewes drove in the game winner two batters later with an RBI single.
On Tuesday, the Cougars walloped Cisne by a score of 14-4 in six innings and
Colby Bushue picked up his third win of the season by going the distance.
Fischer Tharp, Rudy Hablewitz, and Wilkins led the offense with two hits each.
