The Cougars suffered their first loss
of the season with a 10-inning, 7-2 setback to the Stew-Stras Comets on Wednesday, but bounced back the next day and short-gamed
the Brownstown Bombers 10-0 in five innings.
On Wednesday, the Cougars battled the Comets to a 2-2 tie for nine innings
before the Comets busted the game open with a grand slam and a solo homer in the 10th.
Luke Krajefska suffered the loss as he pitched the final five innings. Colby
Bushue was the starter and allowed only a single run in his five innings of work.
Offensively, Colt Wilkins kept up his hot hitting with a pair of singles and
an RBI while Bushue, Cole Armstrong, and Bret Pitts all chipped in a safety each.
On Thursday, the Cougar bats came alive and Colt Wilkins pitched four strong
innings to pick up the win against Brownstown.
The team racked up 14 hits on the day and were led by Bushue's three singles
and 2 RBI's. Wilkins and Armstrong both had two hits and 2 RBI's while Bret Pitts and Heath Hoffmann also contributed
two hits apiece in the offensive onslaught.
Wilkins started and pitched the first four innings allowing no runs on 2 hits,
2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Shawn Meyer closed out the game with a scoreless fifth.
The Cougars return to action on Monday when they host the Flora Wolves at 4:30
PM.
