After swinging the hot bats in their
previous two games, the Cougar hitters were suddenly silenced in a 5-1 loss to the Carlyle Indians on Friday afternoon.
Two Indian pitchesr stiffled the Cougars all game long as they only managed
five hits while striking out eleven times. Thanks to five free passes through the first three innings, they did have several
scoring opportunities, but and RBI single off the bat of Colby Bushue in the 2nd resulted in the only run of the game.
Bushue rapped out two other hits to lead the way offensively and sophomore
Rudy Hablewitz singled twice to account for the Cougar hit total on the day.
Bushue started and suffered the loss from the mound as he lasted just
two innings allowing 4 runs (1 earned), on 2 hits, 1 walk, 3 strikeouts.
The defense didn't help him much as they committed three of their four errors
in the 4-run 2nd by Carlyle.
Bushue, after exiting the game because of arm soreness, was replaced by Luke
Krajefska who finished up allowing 1 run, on 3 hits, 1 walk, and 2 strikeouts.
The Cougars return to action on Saturday when they participate in the Benton
RBI Tournament held at Benton's city park.
