The Cougars pushed across 4 runs
in their last two at-bats to wipe out a 2-0 deficit in their 4-2 victory over the Greenville Comets on Tuesday afternoon.
Reid Drewes and Heath Hoffmann started the uprising in the fifth
by drawing back-to-back walks before Rudy Hablewitz laid down a sacrifice bunt that got past the pitcher to load the bases.
Derek Harmeier drew another walk to force in the first run and
Colby Bushue tied the score on a sacrifice fly to right. After a strikeout, Cole Armtrong delivered what proved to be the
game-winning hit with a an RBI single to right.
The Cougars scored their other run in the fifth when Brett Pitts
led off the inning with a ringing double into the leftfield corner and then advanced to third on a wild pitch. Hoffmann then
followed with another sacrifice fly to right to score Pitts.
Harmeier recorded his fifth win without a loss, tossing a complete
game 4-hitter. He allowed an unearned run in the third and another run in the fifth to go with 3 walks and 10 strikeouts.
The Cougars are back in action this weekend when they host their
annual Wooden Bat Classic. They are scheduled to play at 7:00 PM on Friday night vs Putnam County.
