Cougars Win Four Straight
To Open Fall Campaign

The Cougars started their fall season off on the right foot by winning their first four games with victories over Altamont, Patoka, Stewardson-Strasburg, and Odin.

In the season opener on Tuesday, the Cougars used solid pitching performances from Colby Bushue and Luke Krajefska as they combined on a 3-hitter in a 6-2 win over Altamont.

Bushue tossed the first four innings to get the win and Krajefska picked-up the save with three hitless innings down the stretch.

Down 2-0 in the 4th, the Cougar offense finally got on the board when Cole Armstrong tripled and later scored on an Indian fielding error.

Armstrong came through again in the 5th when he cleared the bases with a 3-run double to put the Cougars up 4-2. Colton Wilkins then followed with an RBI double to make it a 4-run cushion.

The Cougars scored their final run of the game in the 6th when Larry Schoreck singled, stole second, and scored on Altamont's fourth error of the day.

On Wednesday, the Cougars traveled to Patoka and short-gamed the Warriors 14-1 in five innings.

Shawn Meyer picked-up the win, pitching four strong innings allowing no runs on 4 hits, no walks, and 5 strikeouts. Colton Wilkins pitched the final frame and gave up an unearned run on 1 hit.

Armstrong had another big day at the plate as he stroked a solo home run, a double, and an RBI single. Heath Hoffmann laced three singles with an RBI, while Colby Bushue, Fischer Tharp, Luke Krajefska, and Larry Schoreck all contributed two hits each.

On Thursday, the Cougars hosted Stew-Stras and came away with a 9-1 victory over the Comets.

Starting pitcher Cole Armstrong pitched six strong innings allowing 1 unearned run on 1 hit, 3 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Colton Wilkins worked a scoreless 7th striking out two.

Fischer Tharp led the hit parade with 3 singles and 2 RBI's and Colby Bushue was right behind with a pair of singles and 1 RBI. Wilkins, Krajefska, Schoreck, Hoffmann, Schwarm, and Ritter all contributed with one hit apiece.

On Friday, the Cougars finally pulled away from Odin in the sixth as they scored five runs to blast the Eagles 15-5.

Daniel Diss, making his first varsity start, got the win with four innings of work. He allowed 3 runs on 3 hits, 3 walks, and 7 strikeouts. Schoreck notched the save in 3 innings of relief allowing 2 runs on 3 hits, 1 walk, and 3 strikeouts.

Offensively, Armstrong was at it again as he led the way with a 3-run double and an RBI single. Tharp and Krajefska also had multiple hits, while five other Cougars contributed one hit each.

The Cougars return to action next Tuesday when they travel to Dieterich to battle the Movin' Maroons at 4:30.
