Cougars Take Two of Three
Although the Cougars suffered their 2nd loss of the season against a talented Teutopolis team to start the
week, they quickly returned to their winning ways with wins over Brownstown and Odin to finish it up.
On Monday, the Cougars held a 1-run lead in the fifth against Teutopolis, but the Wooden Shoes put 3 runs
on the board in the 5th, then added four more in the 6th to finish off the Cougars by a 10-4 margin in the
non-conference affair.
On Tuesday, the Cougars kept their undefeated conference status intact with a 7-1 NTC victory over the visiting
Brownstown Bombers.
Shawn Meyer upped his season record to 2-1 pitching six strong innings allowing one unearned run, on 2 hits,
3 walks, and 8 strikeouts.
Offensively, seven different players contributed one hit apiece to lead the charge.
On Thursday, the Cougars traveled to Odin and short-gamed the Eagles as they pounded out 27 hits in the
22-7 win.
Austin Schwarm had a monster day at the plate as he jacked a 3-run homer and a grand slam, both in the 3rd
inning when the Cougars put up 13 runs.
Dylan Smith, Fischer Tharp, and Drake Ritter also came up big with 3 hits each, and Noah Powless bombed his
3rd home run of the season with a solo shot in the 3rd.
The Cougars return to action on Saturday when the travel to Louisville to take part in the North Clay Showcase.
They are scheduled to play at 4:30 PM against Teutopolis.
