Brock Adams usually shines with the bat or with his defensive skills in the field, but Thursday afternoon at Louisville
City Park, he showed some extra versatility when he toed the rubber and pitched 5 strong innings in the Cougars 9-2 victory
over the North Clay Cardinals.
Playing their fourth game in as many days, and with the J.V. also playing on Tuesday, the Cougar pitching staff was
somewhat depleted and Adams was called on to fill a role he hasn't played since his Pony League days. Not only did he get
credit for the win, he did so in impressive fashion, allowing only 4 hits in five innings of work.
The Cougar offense did their part as well, banging out 8 hits, while taking advantage of 7 walks and 3 Cardinal
errors. Brian Wodtka had the hot bat today, as he drove in the first two runs on a two-out single in the first inning. He
would later plate another run on a groundout in the 3rd and another on a double in the 7th for a total 4 RBI's for
the game.
Matt Hicks also contributed and RBI, along with his two singles, and Jason Shirley(RBI single) and Trey Garrett(sacrifice
fly) each drove in runs for the Cougars, who scored in every inning but two.
The Cougars will take a day off before they return to action again on Saturday when they travel to Benton to participate
in the Rangers' annual 3-team, round-robin tournament. The first game starts at 12:30 P.M. against Eldorado and the second
contest with the host Rangers will begin at approximately at 3:00 P.M.
