Louis
Sweet haircut Louie. Maybe it's why you went 3-3 with two home runs and 5 RBI's.

Cougars Begin Conference
Campaign With Pair of Wins

The Cougars picked-up their first two conference wins of the 2003 fall season with victories over Noble and Clay City.

Last Friday, the defending MTC champs throttled the Noble Wildcats by a 19-0 count and Tuesday saw them dismantle the Wolves of Clay City 21-0.

Brock Adams (4 innings) and Tyler Burns (1 inning) combined on a no-hitter with 9 total strikeouts and allowed only one Noble hitter to reach base.

The Cougar offense banged out 16 hits in all for the game and were led by Burns with a single, a double, a grand slam homer, and 7 RBI's. Other big contributers were Matt Hicks with pair of singles and 2 RBI's, Spencer Patton with two sngles and 3 RBI's, and Miles Yates with two singles and 1 RBI.

Tuesday's contest with Clay City came with similar results as four Cougar hurlers combined to 1-hit the Wolves. Starter Trey Garrett worked the first two innings and was followed in succession by Patton, Burns, and Adams with one inning apiece. Burns picked-up the win, as he was the pitcher of record in the 4th inning.

The scoring barrage continued in this one as the Cougars again reached double figures in the hit column with 15.

Leading the way were Louis Daugherty with a bunt single, a solo homer, a grand slam homer(both in the same inning), and 5 RBI's. Burns(4 RBI's) and Patton(3 RBI's) also chipped in with three hits apiece, while Brian Wodtka continued his hot-hitting with a single, a double, and 3 RBI's.

With the two wins, the Cougars raised their mark to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in the conference. They are back in action again on Wednesday when they travel to Altamont for a 4:30 P.M. date.
