Cougars Rock Altamont
In 17-1 Win
The Cougars picked-up right where they left off on Tuesday night when they throttled
Clay City by doing the same to the Altamont Indians on Wednesday afternoon.
Again, four pitchers combined to stifle the Indians as starter Brock Adams, Trey
Garrett, Spencer Patton, and Tyler Burns allowed only 3 hits and 1 run in the 5-inning affair. Patton got credit for the win
in the fourth as he set down the side in order with a trio of strikeouts.
The Cougar offense got things going early, as they erupted for 8 runs in their first
at-bat. After a lead-off walk by Burns and a single from Matt Hicks, Adams singled to score the first run. Nick Jones walked
to load the bases and two more runs would score when Patton's grounder was misplayed by the Indians second baseman.
Two more walks would load the bases a second time and Burns singled in his second
at-bat of the inning to add two more RBI's to his team-leading total of 12. Burns would later score the final run when he
scampered home on the Indian's second error of the inning.
Seven more runs would cross the plate in the 3rd inning to push the lead to 15-0.
The big blows came courtesy of Adams, Patton, and Louis Daugherty as they each recorded RBI doubles.
The final two runs scored in the 4th when Jones and Patton each collected RBI singles
to score Hicks and Brian Wodtka.
The Cougar pitching staff not only held the Indians to 3 hits and 1 run, they did
it without walking a hitter, along with an equally impressive 9 recorded strikeouts.
The Cougars are back in action on Friday afternoon when the travel to Odin to face
the Eagles in their next conference game at 4:15 P.M.
