Cougars Claw Cardinals,
Up Conference Mark to 4-0
The Cougars got a combined no-hit pitching performance from Spencer Patton and Brock
Adams as they throttled the visiting North Clay Cardianls 10-0.
Patton got credit for the win with his three innings of work and Adams pitched the
final two innings as they baffled the Cardinal offense to the tune of 12 strikeouts and only 1 walk.
Patton struckout 8 of the 10 batters he faced, while Adams racked-up four K's in
his two-inning stint.
The offense was silent for the first two innings, but erupted for 10 runs in the
3rd and gave the Cougars all the scoring they would need.
Matt Hicks led off the big inning with a single and after Brian Wodtka walked and
Brock Adams was hit with a pitch, Nick Jones would also walk to force in the first run.
Patton would next reach on an error and Trey Garrett followed with the 3rd walk
of the inning to force in two more runs. Miles Yates singled(1 RBI) and Shane Landreth then launched an offering over the
left-centerfield fence for a grand slam.
After a pair of easy outs, Wodtka was hit by a pitch, stole second, and scored on
a Cardinal fielding error off the bat of Adams. Jones doubled to the gap in left-center to score Adams and the lead stood
at 10-0.
The final two innings played out with very little action and the Cougars walked
away with another conference victory.
With the win, the Cougars' overall record stands at 11-0 and 4-0 in the conference.
