Cougars Take Two More,
Up Record to 11-2
The Cougars ran their winning streak to six straight games with back-to-back wins over Vandalia
at home on Monday and at Centralia on Tuesday.
On Monday, Wade Crain pitched seven solid innings to run his record to 3-0 and the Cougar hitters
banged out seven timely hits in a 5-1 victory over the visiting Vandalia Vandals.
Crain allowed only one run on five hits, two of those coming in the 5th when the Vandals scored
their only run, to go along with 3 strikeouts and 3 walks.
Spencer Patton led the offensive charge with with two hits and two RBI's, one of those being
a solo homer in the sixth, and Blake Lane chipped in with a double and one RBI.
On Tuesday, Patton was "King of the Hill" as he shut down the Centralia Orphans on a complete-game
no-hitter in the 3-0 win at Centralia's Jaycee's Park.
Not only did he not allow a hit, he struck out twelve Orphan hitter in the process and the
defense backed him up by making all the routine plays.
Offensively, the Cougars again got some timely hitting and were led by Blake Lane's two hits
and two RBI's. Patton also contibuted a pair of hits and Nick Simmons drove in a run with a sac fly in the 4th.
The Cougars now stand at 11-2 and return to action on Wednesday when the host the Noble Wildcats
at 4:30 PM.
