With A Trio Of Wins
The Cougars concluded a very successful week by winning three games over the weekend as they blasted
Beecher City on Friday and swept Neoga in a pair of games on Saturday.
On Friday, the Cougars exploded for twelve runs on thirteen hits and Lance Schneider picked-up his first victory
as a varsity player in a 12-2, five-inning thrashing of the Eagles.
Five players cranked-out multiple hits and leading the charge was Nick Simmons with a single, a pair of doubles,
and two RBI's.
Schneider went the distance allowing 2 runs on 5 hits, 0 walks, and 7 strikeouts.
In game one on Saturday, the bats came alive again as the Cougars scorched the Indians pitching for sixteen
hits in the 8-3 victory.
Simmons again led the way with three hits, one a solo homer in the 4th, and two RBI's. Four other Cougars
rapped out two hits apiece to also aid the offensive barrage.
Simmons(2-0) played a huge part on the defensive side as well as he got the complete-game win allowing 3 runs
on 2 hits, 8 walks, and 5 strikeouts.
In game two, the Cougars got a gutsy pitching performance from Tanner Bushue and pushed across three runs
to take the lead in the bottom of the sixth to complete the sweep in the 6-3 win.
With the score tied at three, the big inning started with a pair of singles and a walk to load the bases.
After a strikeout, Will Crain and Zac Cain pulled off back-to-back suicide squeeze bunts to plate the first two runs and Jamie
Michel singled up the middle to score the other.
Bushue(1-1) earned his first win by going the distance allowing all 3 runs on 7 hits, 1 walk, and 8 strikeouts.
The Cougars are back in action next Wednesday when the host the St. Elmo Eagles at 4:15.
