Cougars Spank Altamont 15-5
After a slow start, the Cougars exploded for thirteen runs over the last three innings to hand Altamont their
second loss of the season in a 15-5 victory at Lions Field on Monday afternoon.
This one started out earily similar to the two losses the Cougars suffered over the weekend when the
Indians raced to an early 3-0 lead on a first inning three-run homer.
The guests then tacked on another run in the third to make it 4-0 before the Cougars resoponded with a pair
of runs in their half of the inning on an RBI double by Tanner Bushue and a run-scoring single from Nick Simmons.
But the big frame came in the fourth when the Cougars piled on eight runs to jump out to a 10-4 lead. Highlighting
the inning were RBI singles from Bushue, Aaron Robb, and Zac Cain.
The Cougar bats were not done yet. In the fifth, they tallied four more runs as Bushue, Cain, Jayme Michel, and
Luke Smith each collected RBI singles to make it 14-5.
In the sixth, pinch hitter Josh Wollin led off the inning with a walk and eventually scored the game winner
when Bushue drove him in from third with his fourth RBI of the game.
Nick Simmons picked up his second win of the season as he started and pitched the first five innings allowing
all five runs on six hits, four walks, and four strikeouts.
The Cougars take to the road on Tuesday when they travel to Clay City to battle the Wolves.
