The Cougars picked up their fifth win of the season over the visiting Flora Wolves when they manhandled them
11-1 in six innings at Lions Field on Monday.
Lance Schneider pitched six strong innings and the Cougar offense cranked out twelve hits to lead the way.
In recording his first win of the season, Schneider allowed just one run on two hits, two walks, and six strikeouts.
The Cougar defense also did its part by making several difficult plays on the infield, highlighted by thirdbaseman
Nick Simmons and shortstop Tanner Bushue.
Offensively, the Cougars wasted little time getting on the board. After Wade Crain led off the game by taking
a pitch to the ribs, Bushue gave the Cougars a 2-0 lead when he blasted a two-run homer over the scoreboard in left.
In the third there were more fireworks. Will Crain reached on an error to open the inning and Bushue walked
ahead of Zac Cain's RBI double. With runners now at second and third, Simmons launched a long fly ball that hit the top of
the scoreboard for a three-run dinger and a 6-1 lead.
The Cougars tacked on two more runs in the fourth on an RBI double from Will Crain and an RBI single from
Bushue.
They closed out the scoring and the game in the sixth when they scored three more times on a pair of walks and RBI
singles from Jayme Michel, Shea Burton, and Devin Hall.
The Cougars return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Patoka to battle the Warriors.
