Cougars Whip Greenville 9-5
The Cougars scored in every inning but one to overcome an early deficit and defeated the Greeville
Comets 9-5 at Lions Field on Tuesday afternoon.
Marcus Hicks also picked up his third win of the year as pitched the first six innings allowing all five
runs, only one of which was earned, on five hits, three strikeouts, and five walks.
It was a rocky start for the Cougars as they committed three errors in the first inning when Greenville scored
three times, but Wade Crain gave the Cougars some life when homered to lead off the bottom of the first.
The Cougars tied it up in the second when they loaded the bases with two outs and Tanner Bushue roped a single
through the left side to score two.
In the third, the Cougars tacked on four more runs thanks to a couple of Comet fielding errors and RBI singles
from Wade Crain and Shea Burton.
Will Crain scored in the fourth on a wild pitch to make it 8-3 before the Comets made things interesting in
the sixth with a pair of runs to get to within three, but in the bottom half of the inning Aaron Robb went deep to close
out the scoring.
Wade Crain relieved Hicks to pitch a scoreless seventh to pick up the save.
The Cougars are back in action Wednesday when they travel to North Clay to battle the Cardinals at 4:30
PM.
