Cougars Win At Noble
The Cougars returned to their winning ways as they shutout the Noble Wildcats 4-0 at Noble on Wednesday.
Starting pitcher Wade Crain ran his record to 3-1 as he tossed seven strong innings allowing no runs
on three hits, no walks, and seven strikeouts.
He also had a big day at the plate as he rapped out three hits, one a ringing double to left, to lead the
offensive charge.
Noble's only serious threat came in their first at-bat when they put runners on second and third with a one-out
single and double, but Crain wiggled out of the jam and allowed just two more baserunners the rest of the way.
The Cougars scored their first two runs in the third when back-to-back singles from Nick Simmons and Wade
Crain put runners at the corners. Will Crain then bunted Simmons home from third and when Wade Crain advanced to third
on the play, the Wildcat's errant throw to nail him at the bag went to the fence and Crain scampered home.
Another run would cross the plate in the fifth on consecutive walks to Jayme Michel and Tanner Bushue after
Luke Smith and Wade Crain led off the inning with base hits.
The Cougars scored their final run in the seventh when the Crain brothers led off the inning with back-to-back
safeties and Michel stroked an RBI single up the middle.
The Cougars return to action on Saturday when they head south to participate in the annual Benton Tournament.
They will square off against Eldorado at 12:30 PM, then tackle the host Rangers at approximately 3:00 PM.
