Cougars Rebound to Top
Mulberry Grove & Stew-Stras
After a dismal three-game slide, the Cougars got back to their winnings ways when they picked up a pair of
wins over the Mulberry Grove Aces and Stewardson-Strasburg Comets.
On Monday against Mulberry Grove, Wade Crain ran his record to 4-1 with a complete game pitching effort and
the Cougar offense erupted for fifteen hits in a 15-4 shellacking of the visiting Aces.
Crain allowed all four runs (one earned) in the first two innings on two hits, one walk, and four strikeouts.
Offensively, the Cougars were led by Tanner Bushue (single, 3-run HR), Aaron Robb (double, two-run HR, 5 RBI's),
and Nick Simmons (two singles, double, 2 RBI's).
On Tuesday, the Cougars got a two-run, walk-off home run from Tanner Bushue in their final at-bat to slip
past the visiting Comets 5-4.
Trailing 4-2 entering the final frame, Will Crain led off the inning by sending the first pitch he saw into
the trees in right to put the Cougars within one.
Jayme Michel then reached on a fielding error before Bushue rifled his game-winner over the boards in
center.
Marcus Hicks upped his record to 5-1 with a complete-game performance allowing all four runs on eight
hits, two walks, and four strikeouts.
The Cougars are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Salem to battle the Wildcats at 4:15 PM.
