The Cougar offense had been struggling in recent games, but they broke out in a big way in Wednesday's game at Salem as they outscored the host Wildcats 21-6.

 

Up 4-1 after one inning of play, the Cougars sent nineteen batters to the plate in their second at-bat, exploding for 15 runs to take a commanding 19-1 lead.

 

Lance Schneider highlighted the uprising with an RBI single in his first at-bat, but when his turn came up again, he deposited the second pitch he saw for a grand slam over the fence in left.

 

Wade Crain, Nick Simmons, and Aaron Robb also contributed heavily to the onslaught with two hits apiece.

 

Bushue (3-3) collected his third win of the season by pitching the first three innings allowing three runs on three hits, four walks, and six strikeouts.

 

Simmons came on in relief in the fourth and pitched the final two innings to close out the game.

 

The Cougars return to action on Thursday when they host the Newton Eagles at 4:30 PM.
