The Cougars made their trip into deep southern Illinois on Saturday a successful one as they came away with a pair of victories against the Carmi-White County Bulldogs.

 

In game one, Marcus Hicks (6-1) picked up his sixth win of the season and Wade Crain capped off the Cougar scoring with a grand slam home run in the 8-1 victory.

 

Hicks went the distance allowing one run on five hits, three walks, and four strikeouts.

 

Starting in the 2nd inning, the Cougar offense scored single tallies in four consecutive frames until the sixth when they loaded the bases for Crain who sent a two-strike offering over the fence in left.

 

In game two, Wade Crain (5-1) also got it done from the mound as he pitched the second complete game of the day in the 11-4 victory.

 

He gave up all four runs on eight hits, two walks, and seven strikeouts.

 

Offensively, the Cougars were led by Nick Simmons with four hits and four RBI's. Tanner Bushue did some damage at the plate as well with a single, a double, a two-run homer, and five RBI's.

 

The Cougars return to action on Monday when the host the Effingham St. Anthony Bulldogs at 4:30 PM.
