Cougars Start Season
With Pair of Wins
The Cougars started their fall season on a winning note by taking two MTC wins with an 11-1 pasting of
Woodlawn on Monday and a 6-2 victory over Clay City on Tuesday.
Against Woodlawn, Tanner Bushue picked-up the win by pitching all five innings giving up one unearned run
on no hits, 7 walks, and 9 strikeouts.
Freshman Cole Armstrong led the offense by driving in the first two Cougar runs on a single in the fourth
and two more on another basehit in the fifth. Bushue also contributed a pair of singles and 2 RBI's.
At Clay City, the Cougar offense sputtered along until the fifth inning when they wiped out a 1-0 deficit
by scoring four runs on five hits, one a 2 RBI single by Dylan Sill.
They tacked on two more in the sixth on five consecutive singles with the big blow coming on Kyle
Monical's two-run single.
Three Cougar pitchers in Gillett, Gesell, and King combined to three-hit the Wolves on 10 strikeouts. Gesell
collected the win in relief of Gillett who started and went the first three innings.
The Cougars are back in action on Wednesday when the host the Patoka Warriors at 7:00 PM.
