The Cougars suffered their first loss
of the season at Patoka, but bounced back with a short-game win over Stew-Stras to up their overall record to 3-1.
On Wednesday, the Cougar defense committed five costly errors and Warrior pitcher
Luke Murfin shutdown the offense in a 9-3 loss at Patoka.
Dylan Sill was the tough-luck loser in this one as he pitched 4 solid innings
allowing 5 runs (2 earned) on 4 hits, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Ian King finished the final two innings allowing 5 runs (1
earned) on 5 hits, 1 walk, and 3 strikeouts.
Offensively, Tyler Gillett had the only RBI with a run-scoring single in the
first and Shane Donoho contributed a single, 5 stolen bases, and 2 runs scored.
On Thursday, the Cougar offense exploded for 20 hits in a six-inning 13-3 rout
of the visiting Stew-Stras Comets.
Cole Armstrong, Kyle Monical, Ian King, and Ryan Gesell all banged out three
hits apiece and Tyler Gillett, Shane Donoho, and Colby Bushue added two each in the game long uprising.
Gillett picked up the win from the mound pitching all six innings allowing
3 runs on 6 hits, 1 walk, and 3 strikeouts.
The Cougars return to action on Friday when they host the Grayville Bison at
7:00 PM for an MTC matchup.
