Kyle
Kyle has a big day at the plate with 2 hits, 2 stolen bases, and 2 runs scored.

 Cougars Down Noble to
Advance to Semifinals

The Cougars took advantage of eight Noble errors and three different pitchers combined to shutout the Wildcats in their 7-0 quarterfinal victory at Kinmundy's Lions Field on Wednesday.

Facing a tough Noble hurler in senior Jordan Manuel, the Cougars only managed five hits for the game, but they put the ball in play enough to allow the Wildcat defense to kick it around for five unearned runs.

Kyle Monical had two of those hits along with 2 runs scored and 2 stolen bases to lead the way. Dylan Sill chipped in with a 2-run single while Tyler Gillet added an RBI single along with Colby Bushue's double to account for the rest of the offense.

Ian King started and pitched 3 scoreless innings allowing no hits with 7 strikeouts and 3 walks.

Ryan Gesell picked-up the win by tossing the next 3 shutout innings allowing 3 hits with 4 strikeouts and 2 walks. Derek Harmeier closed things out with his single inning of work to secure the shutout.

The Cougars return to action on Friday when they travel to Cisne to play the host Lions in the tournament's second semifinal game at 7:00 PM.
